Hi, I’m Kaylee!

I have loved words my whole life. I first became a published writer at eight-years-old when I won a poetry contest. I put a folder outside my dorm room in college, letting my hallmates know they could put their research papers inside for me to edit for fun. I self-published a book as a young mom with no prior experience in publishing. I have always enjoyed the art of taking words and turning them into something beautiful.

Since receiving my Bachelor of Arts in English, I have pursued various jobs that have utilized my skills in writing and editing.

In addition to my experience editing books, I’ve been a copywriter and copyeditor for a Fortune 500 company, I’ve worked on different marketing projects and campaigns, I’ve edited digital and print material (such as webinars, brochures, and presentations), and I’ve written and edited content for websites.

After self-publishing my first book in 2018, I learned so much and it has given me a greater appreciation for indie authors who choose the self-publishing route.

While I’m open to working with most genres, I particularly love working with:

  • Christian nonfiction

  • Christian fiction

  • Historical fiction

  • Romance

  • Young adult

(Please note: I will not work on manuscripts with graphic sexual or horror scenes, or ones that contain vulgar language. If you are unsure if this applies to your work, please reach out to me with any questions).

Whether this is your first book or whether you’ve published many books before, I would be honored to work with you.

  • Bachelor of Arts in English Literature

  • Copyediting Fiction Course, Editorial Freelancers Association

  • Years of experience in copyediting & copywriting

Qualifications

  • I’m a Christian and my faith in Jesus is the most important thing to me.

  • I studied abroad at Oxford University and it changed my life. The tutorials I took while I was there for one semester were Jane Austen (primary) and Shakespeare (secondary).

  • I met my husband in college while doing YoungLife ministry and we have four children, two of them being twins.

  • I was born and raised in Minnesota but I now live near the mountains in beautiful Montana. In the summer, you will find me doing lots of camping and hiking with my family. In the winter, you will find me sipping tea and reading a book under a cozy blanket.

  • I love visiting new places, reading (historical fiction and theology are my favorites!), going to museums, and learning.
